Peter Lyman

Peter Lyman

Senior Partner

Peter is an internationally recognized expert in the cultural, media and communications sectors with 30 years of consulting experience. He has participated in all facets of the regulatory, policy development/evaluation, strategic planning and business strategy formulation with respect to the wireless and fixed telecom/cable sector and the content and creative industries, broadcasting, cable, satellite, content, and cultural industries in Canada and abroad. Peter is co-founder of Nordicity, and after its merger with PwC in 1998 was appointed national lead partner for the Information Communications and Entertainment/Media practice at PricewaterhouseCoopers Consulting. Since 2002 he has led Nordicity's re-emergence and development as a standalone consultancy, specializing in the transformation of the cultural, media and communications sectors as a result of the impact of new digital technologies.

Mr. Lyman holds a B.A. from McGill University (economics and political science) and an M.B.A. from the Harvard Business School.


Stuart Jack

Stuart Jack

Partner

Stuart specializes in strategic market and technology analysis, business plan preparation, process improvement, policy and regulatory analysis, and organization design and capacity building. He is considered a subject matter expert in the telecommunications, broadcasting and recording industries. Stuart has led numerous international projects for public agencies and multinational firms. Prior to rejoining Nordicity, Stuart was Director in the Information Communications and Entertainment/Media practice at PricewaterhouseCoopers.

Mr. Jack holds an Honours B.A. from Queens University, a M.Sc. from Université du Québec, and a M.B.A. from Concordia University.

Dustin Chodorowicz, CFA

Partner

Dustin has over 10 years of international experience as a financial analyst, economist, and management consultant, working with clients in the United Kingdom, Canada, Africa, Asia, and the Middle East.

He provides Nordicity's clients with financial analysis, valuation, and economic-modelling solutions, which enrich their understanding of the impact of market developments, regulation, and government policy in the media communications industry.

Dustin has appeared as an expert witness at the both the Federal Court of Canada and Copyright Board of Canada, where he has provided testimony on the economics of the television broadcasting industry, and the valuation of copyright licensing in the book publishing and music industries.

Prior to joining Nordicity, Dustin was a consultant in the Information Communications and Entertainment/Media practice at PricewaterhouseCoopers.

Mr. Chodorowicz graduated from University of Toronto with a B.Sc. and M.A.(Economics).

Lynda Brown-Ganzert

Vice President, Nordicity West

Lynda Brown-Ganzert is one of Canada's leading experts on the creative and business aspects of early-stage development of interactive digital media content. Over the past 20 years, Lynda has pioneered numerous digital media initiatives that have helped companies design, develop and commercialize successful properties.

Lynda augments Nordicity's strengths in the digital media sector, with particular emphasis on technology management, product and services development, and sector building strategies at provincial, national and international levels.

As the former president of New Media BC, Lynda served as the spokesperson for the provincial and national sectors, founding the national Canadian Interactive Alliance (CIAIC) and raising more than $50 million for Interactive Canada: A World Centre for Digital Media. She created the first digital media venture forum in Canada and was the founding executive producer for the Vancouver international Digital Festival.

Lynda holds a BA in Communications from Simon Fraser University and a Masters of Education in Educational technology from Simon Fraser University. She sits on the boards of ITAC, the Vancouver International Film Festival and is a Board Governor for Simon Fraser University.

Kurt Eby

Manager

Kurt specializes in competitive market and regulatory policy analysis in the telecommunications, broadcasting and broadcast distribution, new media and cultural industries. Functionally, he has undertaken industry profiles, conducted international benchmarking analysis, developed strategies, and administered surveys and interview processes for public and private clients from Nunavut to Jamaica and across Canada. In the wireless telecommunications sector, Kurt is known for his knowledge of spectrum, regulation, markets and competition in Canada and globally.

Prior to joining Nordicity, Kurt was editor of the Tech Media Reports (the former Decima Reports) publications, Canadian Communications Reports and Canadian NEW MEDIA. He has also held the position of business writer for the Television Bureau of Canada.

Kurt holds a bachelor of journalism from Ryerson University.

Kristian Roberts

Manager

Kristian has specialized knowledge of new media and emerging technologies, especially as they relate to the creation of new Canadian and international market and strategic opportunities in the creative industries. Kristian has considerable understanding of interactive media, information communications technology and the convergence of all other media that these technologies propagate. In his time at Nordicity, Mr. Roberts has also delved deeply into policy relating to the wider creative industries and their impact on local and national economies. Prior to joining Nordicity, Kristian held the position of Technologist in a Toronto-area human resources firm.

Mr. Roberts holds an MSc in International Politics from the University of Wales, Aberystwyth and a B.A. (Hon) in Political Science and History from Concordia University in Montreal.

Sajjad Jafri

Manager

Sajjad is an economist with extensive experience in economic, financial and policy analysis of the telecom, ICT, and media industries. He has undertaken complex projects for public and private sector clients in Canada and abroad. He has applied his strong analytical, quantitative and economic skills to provide clients with innovative solutions that have assisted them in business planning and competitive positioning.

Sajjad has considerable expertise in financial valuation. Most recently, he led a study for Industry Canada (Canadian spectrum regulator) to determine the value of non-auctioned spectrum. He has conducted financial valuation of electromagnetic spectrum for a CALA region telecommunications operator as well as valuation of video broadcast content for a Canadian BDU. He has appeared as an expert economist at the CRTC where he provided the commission and the client with a perspective on competition concerns relating to increased vertical integration in the Canadian communications sector.

Prior to joining Nordicity, he worked as a competition law officer for the Canadian Competition Bureau. At the Bureau, he led numerous antitrust cases related to telecommunication, financial, high tech, pharmaceutical, print media and agriculture sectors.

Sajjad holds a HBA in economics and mathematics from McMaster University and a MA in economics (specialization in financial economics) from Queen's University.

Stephen Hignell

Senior Research Analyst

Based in Nordicity's London, UK office, Stephen maintains a specialised knowledge of the digital and creative industries across Europe and North America. Working directly with both private and public sector clients, Stephen helps start-ups, SMEs, government and agencies with the development of business plans and feasibility studies, financing strategies and market assessments. With experience in managing industry support programmes, Stephen has developed a unique expertise in programme design and evaluation as well as the analysis of industry trends and their impact on specific sectors and individual companies.

Prior to working with Nordicity, Stephen held positions at On Screen Manitoba, managing their film and television industry support programme, and Foreign Affairs and International Trade Canada (DFAIT), coordinating export and foreign direct investment initiatives.

Stephen holds a BA with a focus on macroeconomics and political economy, and a FITT-certified post-graduate diploma in International Business (Adv.).

Julie Whelan

Consultant

Julie brings an extensive, marketing and communications background to Nordicity with a focus on book publishing, online publications and the not-for-profit sector. While living in the United Kingdom, Julie worked in the marketing divisions of major international publishing houses including Penguin and Random House. She also acted as Campaign Marketing Manager for the HarperCollins UK Press Books division. More recently, she has advised firms on social networking strategies as well as online partnerships and promotions.

Julie holds an M.B.A. (Specialization: Arts & Media Management) from the Schulich School of Business and a B.A. from McGill University in Montreal.

Mila Dechef-Tweddle

Research Analyst

Mila is a skilled researcher, analyst and writer. With a background in Cultural Anthropology and Museum Studies, Mila brings a deep familiarity with social research methods to the Nordicity team. She also brings significant research and program evaluation experience to the team from a variety of cultural and heritage institutions. Most notably, during her time at Parks Canada, Mila undertook an internal assessment study of digital media adoption in agency-operated parks and sites across Canada. In addition to her research and analytical experience, Mila has also produced major exhibitions for organizations such as Greater Toronto Airports Authority and Parks Canada.

During her time at Nordicity, Mila has been involved in projects focused on researching and assessing current structural and economic trends in the various cultural and media industries. She has a strong professional interest in how culture is created, distributed and consumed. In particular, Mila is interested in how these process are evolving and responding to ever-changing cultural, social and technological environments and how this is affecting the way that cultural organizations operate.

Mila holds a Bachelor of Arts (Hon.) in Anthropology from Concordia University and a Master in Museum Studies from the University of Toronto. Mila is also fluently in both of Canada's Official Languages.

Shelby Miller

Financial Administrator

Ms. Miller brings over 20 years of business experience specializing in the development and implementation of efficient financial recording processes and systems designed to provide useful and accurate information to management.

Ms. Miller holds a B.A. from the University of Toronto with a major in Commerce and a minor in Economics. She is currently a Pro Advisor with QuickBooks.
