The Ottawa-Gatineau Film and Television Development Corporation (OGFT) presents results of feasibility study for construction of new multimedia production center in the National Capital Region.
Gatineau — Wednesday, July 9, 2008 —The Ottawa-Gatineau Film and Television Development Corporation (OGFT) is pleased to announce the results of their feasibility study on the implementation of an eventual Multimedia production centre for the National Capital Region. This study is in response to a shortage of studio space and the lack of a physical focal point for the industry which continues to compromise the growth of business and weaken our competitive position on a global basis.
Ottawa producers are exporting their products around the world and OGFT believes thatthe local stakeholders have the talent and the expertise for producing quality products for the international market. But an investment must be made in infrastructure with respect to a multi-media, multi-functional space that can accommodate not only the film & television cluster, but also animation, sound and the ever growing interactive media such as gaming and on-line content for web and mobile. This space will offer small and larger recording areas, as well as office space for short, medium and long term projects.
In response to this need, the OGFT secured private and public financing in order to conduct the 60,000$ study. We acknowledge the financial support of the Ontario Media Development Corporation, the City of Ottawa, the CJOH-TV-CTV-Ottawa, the Nordicity Group and the GAPC Entertainment and Sound Venture Productions Consortium.OGFT has also participated financially in this study. The study was conducted by the Nordicity Group and is available for review on the OGFT website (www.ogft.com).
When: Courtyard Restaurant , 21 George Street, Ottawa at noon.
