Telefilm Canada, Profile of the Canadian Sound Recording Industry
Telefilm Canada engaged Nordicity to prepare a financial and economic profile of the Canadian sound recording industry. Nordicity conducted a survey of, and interviews with, sound recording companies in Canada to collect enterprise-level data required to construct the profile. Telefilm Canada used the profile to assess the impact its programs on Canadian sound recording companies.
Nova Scotia Film Industry Taskforce, Economic Impact and Long-Term Strategy for Nova Scotia's Film and Television Production Industry
The Taskforce engaged Nordicity to prepare an economic impact and long-term strategy for Nova Scotia's film and television production industry. The project consisted of an economic and cultural impact analysis, examining the costs related to generating film production activity and assessing the benefits to the economy, society and culture. It also included the creation of a strategic plan for the industry. The taskforce released the report to the public in fall 2004.
Department of Canadian Heritage, Summative Evaluation of the Museum Assistance and Canadian Museum Association Programs
The Department of Canadian Heritage commissioned Nordicity to conduct a summative evaluation of its Museum Assistance Program (MAP) and Canadian Museum Association Program (CMAP). Nordicity reviewed program data, collected data through key informant interviews and a survey of Canadian museums, and prepared several case studies. Nordicity used these data to evaluate the objectives achievement, economic and social impact, alternatives, relevancy, and cost-efficiency of both programs.
Ministry of Public Administration and Information, Republic of Trinidad and Tobago, Spectrum Audit and Spectrum Management Policies and Procedures
Nordicity, in conjunction with its business partners (PricewaterhouseCoopers, Stanzar Communications, Strategic Wireless Inc.) assisted the Ministry to develop policies and procedures for a new radio-spectrum management system. The consulting team conducted a spectrum audit, prepared the frequency allocation table, designed a permanent spectrum monitoring system, and also assisted in the preparation of the tender documentation.
Ministry of Communications and Works, Republic of Cyprus, Development of Policies and Procedures for GSM Licensing
Nordicity principals in conjunction with PricewaterhouseCoopers-Cyprus oversaw the public consultation process amongst stakeholders on potential rules for the licensing of GSM and UMTS spectrum and drafted the tender documents which provided guidelines for the spectrum auction. The project team provided an initial estimate of the value of the spectrum and auction reserve price. The policies and procedures developed by the project team formed part of Cyprus’ program for ascension to the European Union.
City of Vaughan, Validation of Broadband Services Business Plan
Nordicity principals assisted the City of Vaughan in assessing and validating Hydro Vaughan Energy Corporation’s business plan for establishing a public/private broadband Internet services company. This project included executive interviews with potential enterprise customers, a telephone survey of residences in Vaughan, and a forecast of business and residential demand for broadband Internet services in the City of Vaughan.
