Calgary Games Kiln Launches to Accelerate Local Game Development
Calgary’s video game ecosystem is gaining momentum, with a growing community of studios, developers, and creative technology companies building new products for global audiences. To help promising local projects move from concept to commercial readiness, Nordicity is delivering the Calgary Games Kiln, a 12-month pilot accelerator for early-stage game developers.
Developed in partnership with Calgary Economic Development, Platform Calgary, and the Calgary Game Developers Association, the program is run by Nordicity and Jason Della Rocca, Co-founder of Execution Labs. Through tailored mentorship, industry expertise, and practical business support, the Kiln helps participating teams refine their games, strengthen their market strategies, and prepare for future investment and growth.
The inaugural cohort includes the following five Calgary-based teams developing original titles across a range of genres and platforms:
- Grizzly Moose Games
- Nice Axe Games
- Fortress Games Studio
- Spacehabs.com
- Braveshell Studio
The initiative builds on the city’s expanding digital media sector, which includes more than 60 companies working in video games and immersive media.
