Research, analysis, culture and creative industries
With a rich background in UK culture and arts and a strong analytical mindset, Balvinder is skilled at bringing a breadth of research inputs into a coherent whole, providing insight and direction, and clearly articulating novel or complex concepts.
Since joining Nordicity, Balvinder has led primary and secondary research and been an analyst on creative industry projects across the film, TV, gaming, theatre, literature, publishing and music sectors. He has worked with the Arts Council England, BFI, Heritage Lottery Fund, Greater London Authority, the Welsh Government, UK Theatre, the Production Guild of Great Britain, Creative Skillset, Creative Scotland, various Local Authorities, and music and video game industry advocate bodies.
Prior to joining Nordicity, Balvinder worked for No. 10 Downing Street, the Cabinet Office and Her Majesty’s Treasury, undertaking bespoke research for departments and into European economic reform. He worked on policy coordination for the Economic Policy Committee of the Council of the EU, was a policy advisor and specialist on Freedom of Information, and helped deliver key Finance Minister meetings for the G7/8 and EU. He was also involved with domestic fiscal events such as budgets and autumn statements. Before joining Central Government, Balvinder was a research chemist.
