Nordicity team presenting at the DM@X conference

Nordicity once again took part in this year's iteration of Digital Media at the Crossroads conference. Nordicity took stage to kick-off the conference with a presentation and update of the revenues, employment, and future trends in two key creative sectors in the Canadian digital media universe: audio visual production and music.

LABOUR TURMOIL AND AI

The creative workforce sees AI as an existential threat. In the audio-visual sector, US labour turmoil heavily impacted foreign location services in the past year. Meanwhile, Canadian unions raise the same issues as their US counterparts regarding AI and fair pay.

AI is also reshaping the music industry. As new technologies present new opportunities, AI has introduced disruptions and risks to the industry, and raises questions around rights and ownership of AI generated works.
