Balvinder Chowdhary

Balvinder works with governments, local authorities, regulators, and public and industry bodies supporting the creative and cultural sectors, heritage, and the arts – as well as businesses like film studios and theatres. He is particularly suited to sector and policy reviews, strategy development, and impact evaluations – and has the sort of mind that’s very happy to get into the weeds of regulation.

Balvinder studied Biochemistry at Southampton University before spending a decade in “wet lab” research in a chemical laboratory, formulating products for mobile telephony. He later moved into government, spending another decade serving as a researcher and policy wonk at the Cabinet Office and HM Treasury before joining Nordicity. A commitment to rigorous inquiry and attention to detail have been the common threads across his various careers.

A lifelong learner, Balvinder’s love of knowledge began early, sparked by a childhood spent with books. As a young boy, he spent his summers at his local library, reading a book a day. At university, he discovered interests in film and theatre. Today, he brings a wide-ranging curiosity and passion for culture, history, and politics to his work.

Drawing on his polymath background, Balvinder uses his core skills for research and synthesis. Bringing together knowledge and experience to deliver clear analysis, insight, and strategy is what most excites him.
