For over a decade, Nordicity has worked with film studios to help demonstrate the value they bring to their communities and local economies.
We’re pleased to share our latest work: an impact evaluation of The Bottle Yard Studios in Bristol, completed for Bristol City Council and the West of England Mayoral Combined Authority.
Working alongside Saffery LLP, we explored the impact of investment in three new soundstages at the Bottle Yard Studios.
Since the soundstages opened, occupancy and production activity have increased significantly across the region. The additional annual employment supported by the Studios has more than tripled, from 57.6 to 173.9 full-time equivalents (FTEs), while annual GVA has grown from £4.2 million to £15.3 million.
The Studios are also supporting skills development and pathways into the industry for people from backgrounds currently underrepresented in film and TV. Investment in on-site solar generation has also made the site a net exporter of renewable electricity.
These results demonstrate how investment in production infrastructure can create benefits for the broader industry, beyond the studio walls.
